destination focus… Orlando

Orlando is a world-class city that continues to grow, evolve and prosper. New investment, such as capital improvements to the Orlando International Airport, make travel increasingly accessible from anywhere in the world. Business and meeting travelers can arrive at Orlando International Airport on more than 38 scheduled airlines providing nonstop service from 73 U.S. domestic and 36 international cities.

Over the next few years, the Orange County Convention Center is getting a $187-million facelift, adding a ballroom, comfortable living room-like furniture and improved wireless capabilities for meeting goers.

So, what do we recommend doing when in Orlando?

Attractions near the convention center are cropping up everywhere like The Square on I-Drive shopping and entertainment center on International Drive, a $200-million development with shops, restaurants and recreation in the form of KINGS Bowl, a Madame Tussauds wax museum and Sea Life Aquarium.

If you’re a foodie, Orlando is also making its mark as a true culinary hot spot, with award-winning restaurants and celebrity chefs that cater to event attendees from around the world. Visiting eventprofs can find unique establishments in each of the six dining districts where they can explore the local culinary scene. Combine the array of restaurants with celebrity cache with eateries by Emeril Lagasse, Cat Cora and Todd English and you’ve got the makings of a spectacular event.

It you prefer to work up an appetite, Orlando is home to seven of the 10 top theme parks in the world, as well as more than 100 unique attractions. VIP groups can take over the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort and who wouldn’t want to shimmy down a waterslide at Aquatica waterpark? There are also Backstage Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and up-close experiences with the Space Shuttle Atlantis at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

One of the best things about this part of the world is the weather. With year-round sunshine and an inviting climate, you’re provided with so many opportunities to explore Orlando’s natural wonders, including more than 2,000 lakes, springs and rivers, thrilling airboat and hot air balloon rides, eco-safaris and zip-line adventures.

Orlando

From casually sipping wine at a trendy outdoor lounge, to checking out a rock band at a live venue, Orlando has a great evening line-up of activities. If you’re a music fan, check out top name music performances at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney, and Hard Rock Live at Universal CityWalk. We recommend seeing the Blue Man Group and La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil. If you fancy a dance afterwards… head to downtown Orlando where you’ll find dozens of clubs, bars, restaurants, live music and even Orlando Magic basketball games at the Amway Center.

See you there!
